HDMI TO HDMI 30MTR
An HDMI to HDMI 30M (Meter) connection runs digital audio and video across long distances. Because standard copper HDMI cables suffer from signal loss (attenuation) over 15 meters, you generally have two main hardware options to achieve a 30-meter connection: Active Fiber Optic Cables or HDMI Extenders (over Ethernet).
1. Active Fiber Optic HDMI Cables
Instead of traditional copper, these use optical fiber to transmit light, completely eliminating signal degradation and electromagnetic interference.
- Performance: Supports high-bandwidth signals like 4K @ 60Hz or even 8K @ 60Hz (depending on the HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 specification).
- Features: 18Gbps to 48Gbps data transfer, HDR, ARC (Audio Return Channel), and HDCP 2.2 support.
- Design: Extremely thin, flexible, and lightweight, but usually directional (must plug the “Source” end into the PC/Console and “Display” into the TV).
2. HDMI Extender over RJ45 (Ethernet)
These setups use a transmitter (TX) and a receiver (RX) to convert the HDMI signal, sending it over affordable Cat5e or Cat6 LAN cables.
- Performance: Typically supports up to Full HD (1080p @ 60Hz).
- Design: Highly cost-effective because Cat6 cable is cheaper and easier to snake through walls than a thick 30M HDMI cord.
- Setup: Most basic models are plug-and-play and require no external power, drawing enough power from the HDMI source device.
Considerations for Long-Distance Setups
- Directionality: Many 30M active cables will not work if plugged in backward. Look for clear “Source” and “Display” markings on the connectors.
- Testing First: Always test your 30M cable or extender directly between your source (e.g., laptop) and display (e.g., TV) before permanently running it through walls, ceilings, or conduits
